Software Engineering Intern
Engineering St-Laurent, QC Internship (Winter 2027)
Reports to Chief Technology Officer
About the Role
As a Software Engineering Intern at ATEK, you will spend four months (January to April 2027) on the team that builds our environmental monitoring platform for pharmaceutical, biotech and hospital labs. You will ship real features and fixes to production, with code reviews and guidance from the team. The work spans sensor data ingestion, alerting and the web application our customers use every day.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features and bug fixes in our TypeScript services and React web application
- Write automated tests for the code you change
- Investigate and fix bugs reported by customers and support
- Build internal tools that help operations and support teams work faster
- Document what you build so the next person can maintain it
- Take part in code reviews, daily team stand-ups and product demos
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a computer science, software engineering or related program
- Available full-time from January to April 2027 (4 months)
- Programming experience in TypeScript, JavaScript or another modern language, from courses, projects or previous internships
- Basic knowledge of SQL and web development
- Curious, rigorous and comfortable asking for help when you are stuck
- Bilingual (English/French)
Nice to Have
- Experience with React or Node.js
- Personal or school projects involving IoT, sensors or embedded devices
- Familiarity with Git and pull request workflows
- Experience using AI coding assistants
- Interest in life sciences or regulated industries
