Understanding the Notion Pro, Synergy & RadioLog end-of-support
For years, Hanwell’s Notion Pro, Synergy, and RadioLog software were common choices for laboratories, research facilities, and life-science sites tracking temperature and environmental conditions with Hanwell radio sensors. That changed when Hanwell withdrew support for the platforms.
Hanwell ended support for the Synergy and Notion Pro software platforms on 31 December 2021, moving its development effort to a newer EMS platform that it introduced in 2018. RadioLog and Synergy can still receive and display radio data, but after the cutoff they can no longer merge Hanwell Pro data — and customers are told to upgrade to EMS to keep a fully supported system.
For facilities that depend on this software as a compliance system of record, withdrawn vendor support is the signal that the platform needs to be replaced, not maintained. Note that this affects the named software products only — Ellab / Hanwell remains an active company with a current EMS platform.
Why an end-of-support system of record is a risk
Once a software platform leaves support, the vendor no longer ships maintenance fixes, compatibility updates, or security remediation for it. In a regulated environment, that matters twice over: the software is no longer backed by anyone able to attest to or fix it, and an unsupported system of record for temperature and environmental data is difficult to defend in an FDA or Health Canada inspection where data integrity and system validation are scrutinized.
If you are already being asked to upgrade to EMS, it is the right moment to evaluate a genuinely modern, independently supported system rather than another platform change on the same vendor’s lifecycle.
Migrating to ATEK without a compliance gap
ATEK’s approach is built around continuity. We inventory every Notion Pro, Synergy, and RadioLog monitoring point, alarm configuration, and reporting workflow, then deploy ATEK sensors in parallel so both systems capture data simultaneously through the validation window. Included IQ/OQ/PQ documentation demonstrates equivalence or improvement, and only once ATEK is validated is the unsupported Hanwell software retired.
The replacement is all-inclusive: a continuously maintained, 21 CFR Part 11-ready cloud platform, in-house A2LA-accredited calibration with NIST-traceable certificates, and a Canadian-based team available 24/7 with a five-minute live-response guarantee and bilingual support — with Canadian data hosting under PIPEDA.
If you are still running Hanwell Notion Pro, Synergy, or RadioLog, book a free migration assessment below and we will map your path off it.
