The guide for vaccine management standards and practices details all the steps to follow for optimal vaccine management, including temperature monitoring. In this article, we’ll present how the ATEK system facilitates compliance management and significantly reduces loss risks.
Let’s look together, point by point, at how ATEK enables you to streamline your vaccination operations and compliance.
4.1. GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Equip all refrigerators with a surveillance device offering continuous recording of current, minimum, and maximum temperatures to ensure appropriate vaccine monitoring.
The ATEK transmitter display has the same features as a min-max-reset thermometer. The transmitter continuously records temperatures and transmits them to the ATEK platform.
Ensure that all devices used have a traceability certificate indicating they have been calibrated and have a calibration accuracy of no more than 1°C.
Have surveillance devices calibrated or replaced annually.
ATEK certisondes are pre-calibrated, replaceable probes in a laboratory, compliant with ISO17025 standards. When you replace the probe in your refrigerator, the ATEK transmitter automatically detects the change and associates the calibration certificate in the ATEK platform.
Through this platform, you can easily access the certificate, ensuring the accuracy of your measurements. Additionally, the ATEK platform will automatically send you a notification when the certificate is about to expire, allowing you to stay updated and compliant with your annual calibration.
Regardless of the surveillance device used, record current, minimum, and maximum temperatures 2 times per day, at the beginning and end of the day, even if the refrigerator is connected to a telephone exchange or an online monitoring system or has an alarm.
The objective of this measure is to ensure that personnel in charge of vaccination can exercise their professional judgment to determine whether stored vaccines have been exposed to a cold chain break.
The ATEK platform is designed to encourage professionals to take two readings per day, one in the morning and one in the evening, in full compliance with established standards.
With the ATEK system, checks can be performed quickly and remotely, with no possibility of personnel falsification, even in case of missed readings.
Keep temperature readings for 4 years.
Temperature readings are stored permanently on the ATEK platform.
4.2.2. Digital Minimum-Maximum Thermometer
Usage Rules:
Place the probe and glycol vial in an empty vaccine box in the center of the refrigerator.
The ATEK probe is installed in the box on the center shelf of the refrigerator.
Install the thermometer clearly visible near the refrigerator.
Record current, minimum, and maximum temperatures 2 times per day on the temperature record.
Reset the thermometer after each reading by pressing the reset button.
On the ATEK platform, in the dashboard, by selecting the “Temperature Reading” option, you can simply click the “verify” button to record the verification time, minimum and maximum temperature since the last verification, as well as the name of the person responsible for the verification. It’s exactly as if you were doing a manual paper reading, but in a more convenient and accurate way thanks to ATEK technology.
